How I ended Reviving Hadosiddapura Lake: A Journey of Transformation

Embarking on the journey to rejuvenate Hadosiddapura Lake has been nothing short of transformative, both for the lake itself and for me personally. The seeds of this endeavor were sown around 13 years ago through discussions, planning, and groundwork by the Prakriya Green Wisdom School, Bhoomi Network, and other passionate individuals. However, the true metamorphosis began in November 2019 when I joined hands with Bhoomi Network to take part in the physical transformation of the lake.

A Shift in Perspective:

We all intellectually understand the vital role that water plays in sustaining life and civilization. Yet, seeing a once-thriving lake in our vicinity deteriorate, witnessing its ecosystem suffer, and realizing the interconnectedness of all life forms within it, brings a whole new dimension of awareness. My journey with Bhoomi Network to restore the lake became an opportunity for personal growth and healing.

From Problem to Solution:

Previously, my work as a civil engineer seemed devoid of life's purpose. I questioned the trajectory of my life and its significance. The experience of being part of a community-driven initiative shifted my perspective. Collaborating to revive the dying lake allowed me to transition from being unintentionally part of the problem to actively participating in a solution. The collective dream of not just Bhoomi Network, but also the villagers of Hadosiddapura, became a shared aspiration.

United for Change:

The arrival of Anand Malligavad, affectionately known as the "Lake Man of Bangalore," injected renewed energy into our efforts. Together, we worked tirelessly on the ground – using earth movers to desilt the lake, constructing bunds, and devising systems to prevent sewage contamination. Witnessing a sense of unity among community members, along with the hope and smiles on the faces of every age group, has been a source of profound joy.

From Engineer to Advocate:

My role as a civil engineer had often left me searching for purpose. However, engaging with the community and dedicating myself to a greater cause has illuminated the path to fulfillment. The camaraderie, the love, and the bond shared with the villagers have breathed life into my work. Witnessing the lake come back to life, hearing the laughter of children, observing birds, and experiencing nature's beauty at sunset – these moments are true treasures.

A Heartfelt Gratitude:

As I recount this journey, gratitude wells within me for the support and guidance provided by Bhoomi Network and Anand Malligavad. This experience has affirmed that our connection to each other and the Earth is the essence of true contentment. The Hadosiddapura Lake Revival Project has become more than just a restoration effort; it's a testament to the transformative power of collective action and the profound impact it can have on our lives.

I am honored to share this journey with you all, and I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Bhoomi Network and Anand Malligavad for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful endeavor.
