Rotoscoping can look simple when you see the final result, but the actual process can get complicated very quickly. I wrote this blog to address the problems that VFX and animation students often face while working with moving subjects, complex edges, hair, motion blur, and long sequences.
While working on this topic, I focused on making the article useful for someone who is actually learning or practising rotoscoping. Rather than only explaining what rotoscoping is, I explored the challenges artists face and paired each one with practical ways to handle it.
My approach to the content:
The idea was to make a technical VFX topic feel clear, practical, and easy to learn from. This project also reflects how I approach specialised content: understand the reader’s actual problem, research the subject properly, and turn technical information into content that is genuinely useful.
